My fellow Lions,

Season greetings are in the air! Festivals are coming! Everyone is in a celebration mood; all system is on holiday-drive mode! And fellow Lions, we can celebrate because we believe we have come a long way through six months of good fellowship, friendship and most important of all, we believe we have changed to make a difference. We believe we have smoothly sailed through these six months with no untoward incidents. Clubs and its members are actively serving in every possible way to make the communities a healthy community and helping those in need. A difference that you and you only can bring about the well-being of the one you serve.

At the end of November, Lions Clubs International through the clubs worldwide, has planted more than 6,000,000 trees! We have surpassed the initial target of 1 million; and fellow Lions, you are part of it. Three roars to all of you; but fellow Lions, a target do not determine the destination, if we truly believe in preserving our environment. It is the Lions who determine how far we can go and how many trees we can plant. Fellow Lions, you have played your part, but we want you to continue to do this noble task so that our future generations will benefit and to show the world that it is our commitment to maintain our mother earth. Plant some more, okay!

We have conducted the Club Excellence Process; hopefully some clubs who wish to achieve excellence can implement this process. Contact your zone chairperson for more information. Some of our members have also attended the RLLI and SLLI. We believe they have learned and improved their leadership qualities and will serve their clubs and district with better commitment and satisfaction.

The attendance at the recent concluded 50th OSEAL Forum in Manila was not at all that pleasing. Some of the reasons of not attending were insecure location; personal commitment, no interesting programs, etc. But for whatever reasons there are, the forum paves a way for many to interact and enhance fellowship amongst Lions in the region. There are many things to do besides attending the numerous seminars and plenary sessions organised. At least for once in a lifetime of a Lion, a member shoud attend this forum, to get a taste of what it is all about. We hope many Lions will register for the forthcoming MD Convention in Kuching as well as the 95th Lions International Convention in Busan, Korea.

Fellow Lions, as we move into the New Year, we further commit ourselves to the true spirit of Lionism by participating in more meaningful and beneficial activities that will make a difference in those in need. We will further enhance our members and clubs as one united family. We believe our mission is pure and honest; we believe you can; we believe in the power of "We".

Fellow Lions, lately our district has lost a couple of dedicated Lion members to the eternal world. We would like to empahise with their respective family for their losses, as we prayed for their souls.

Finally, my fellow Lions, my family and I, and all the cabinet officers would like to wish each and every Lion, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We shall meet again in the next issue, in 2012.

Cheers!

Your Governor,

Dr. Ben C Ng
