I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Lions who have overwhelmingly elected me to lead this dynamic District 308B1 for the fiscal year 2010-2011.

This fiscal year, the Lions Clubs International encourages the Lions to take action to grow more in humanitarian service.  In the light of global economic crises and disasters, hands on service has become increasing important. More than ever before, there are many people in need, people who need Lions. We need to be their "Beacon of Hope” to serve the community.

My vision for this fiscal year, is that District 308B1 Malaysia be the best Non Governmental Organisation in Malaysia. I am convinced that this vision can be achieved through the combined efforts of every Lion working hand in hand together in harmony and unity to serve the needy and less fortunate regardless of the colour of their skin and religion.  This is consistent with my theme “Together We Serve As One”. Towards this end, I encourage all the Lions Clubs in the District to double their efforts to come up with more meaningful service projects that will benefit the needy within their local communities. One particular project  that I intend to embark and introduce to all lions clubs in the District, is  the setting up of Educational and Scholarship Fund aimed at reducing the burden of the poor who couldn’t even afford the basic needs of school children i.e. food, school uniform and tuition fees becomes a REALITY. I personally have experienced these hardships and sufferings coming from a poor rubber tapper family in Tampin, Negeri Sembilan. It is thru education that one is able to break the chain of vicious cycle.  In the eyes of the needy, the Lions have always been regarded as “their Beacon of Hope”. Let us work together and engage the corporate citizens and public at large to give their undivided support to shine a light to the needy so that their needs will be met. Indeed we are very fortunate and privileged “to serve” rather than “be served”. This act of giving by serving others in need will be much more effective when we serve together as a team as Henry Ford once said:

“Coming Together is a Beginning; Keeping Together is  Progress,

Working Together is Success”

I would like to call upon all Lions to seize this opportunity to give your best by carrying out as many meaningful projects as possible to aid the needy and the less fortunate and at the same time take the opportunities to enrich ourselves in terms of knowledge and personal development  thru leadership and mentoring programs that Lions Organisation has in stored for us all.
