The official colours are Purple and Gold. Purple for loyalty and integrity; Gold for sincerity, liberality, purity and generosity.

What do Lions Do?
Lions have been recognised throughout the world for the service to the blind and visually impaired. We have helped hundreds of thousands of visually impaired people develop skills to live productive lives. We have established majority of eye bank worldwide, funded ground-breaking research on leading causes of blindness and organised eyeglass recycle efforts.  
Over the years, Lions have developed programmes that help young people live up to their potential – programmes that stimulate an awareness of what is going on in the world around them. The youth programmes are:

    • The Lion-Quest “Skills for Growing” and “ Skills for Adolescence”
    • The International Youth Exchange where more than 5,000 youngsters travel yearly to a foreign country.
    • Leo Clubs offer youngsters ages 13 to 28 a chance to serve the communities and learn how they can continue to make a difference for the rest of their lives.

How can I be a member of a Lions Club?
Membership in a Lions Club is by invitation open to men and women of legal majority and good reputation in the community.

What do I gain to a member of a Lions Club?
Through membership in a Lions Club, people not only help those in need, but have opportunities to develop personal friendship, fellowship and gain valuable leadership skills.

What are the official languages of Lions Clubs International?
Lions Clubs International conducts its official business in the following languages: English, Mandarin, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish.

What magazine does Lions Clubs International publish?
31 official editions of THE LION Magazine are published in 20 languages.

What re the languages spoken by clubs in Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore?
The official language of the Lions Clubs in Brunei, Malaysia and Singaporeis English however, there are some clubs conduct their business in Mandarin.

How many clubs are there in Malaysia?
Malaysia is in the Multiple District 308 consists of Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore divided into 4 sub districts namely

    • D308 – A1 consists of Singapore;
    • D308 – A2 consists of Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei;
    • D308 – B1 consists of Johor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Federal Territories, Pahang, Trengganu and Kelantan;
    • D308 – B2 consists of Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak and Selangor.
    • There are approx. 315 clubs with approx. 8,255 members.

Who control the Districts?
A District Governor who is elected by the members at the annual convention each year administers each district. The term of the District Governor is one year and generally governs the district from July of the year to June of the following year.

What is an Annual Convention?
It is an annual gathering of the Lions from the whole of Multiple District to have fellowship, enjoyment, to adopt and resolve issues, elect District Governors & Vice District Governors, clubs receiving awards, training and seminars, etc.,

When and where this convention be held?
The convention will be held annually at the end of April each fiscal year. The venue will be on a rotational basis of the 4 sub-districts. The clubs from that sub-district turn will bid to host the convention on consensus basis.

What is a Region and Zone?
A region is a defined territory consisting of 9 to 16 chartered clubs in good standing and administered by a Region Chairman appointed by the District Governor.  A zone is a defined territory consisting of 3 to 8 chartered clubs in good standing and administered by a Zone Chairman appointed by the District Governor.

What is a District Chairman?
A good standing Lion appointed by the District Governor to assist in supervision the various activities of the Lions Clubs International and provide assistance to clubs in carrying the activities.

What is New Century Lions Clubs?
The New Century Lions Club gives adults through age 35 the ability to create a Lions club that fits their lifestyle and need for flexibility. Providing hands-on projects and more extensive use of technology to ease club administration.

What is Campus Lions Clubs?
Campus Lions Clubs develop projects and activities to meet the unique needs of their local campus communities, empowering members to create real change.

What is a Club Branch?
A club branch is a small group of people who become members of an existing "parent" Lions club, but who hold meetings and conduct service activities at a location that is separate from the parent club. Branch members are full members of the parent Lions club, with all privileges and responsibilities.
