| Peace Poster From Our District Is The Winner At MD Level |
|
Final judging of Peace Poster contest for the four sub-districts was held on 22nd November 2009. A panel of judges headed by artist, Mr. Ramsay Ong unanimously selected the poster submitted by 13 years old Wan Ching Lim from Kota Bharu, Kelantan as the winner. She was sponsored by the Lions Club of Kota Bharu. Her winning poster will now represent our District at the International level and we wish her success.

| Peace Poster Contest Final Judging - 8th November 2009 |

Final judging of Peace Poster contest was held at the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall on Sunday 8th November 2009. The winners were: 1st prize - Lim Wan Cheng (submitted by Lions Club of Kota Bharu), 2nd Prize - Chin Yi Yun (submitted by Lions Club of Seremban Central) and 3rd Prize - Ho Mun Juein (submitted by Lions Club of KL North). Prior to the final, there was a coloring contest for children and performances.

| Launch of Peace Poster Contest Final Judging - 5th November 2009 |

Held at the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall on 5th November 2009. Present at the launch was Malaysia's first astronaut, Dato' Dr. Sheikh Muzaphar, supermodel Ms. Amber Chia and CEO of Sunway Pyramid, Mr. Chan Hoi Choy as well as Lions dignitaries, Lions and members of the press.

| Lions Eye Clinic's 100th Cataract Patient Performed On World Sight Day |

The Lions Eye Clinic performed its 100th Cataract operation on Puan Jamilah Hashim, age 74 on 8th October which is also the World Sight Day. On the same day, another cataract operation was performed on Mdm. Wong Lien Tai, age 76. To mark the historic day, District Governor, Datuk Danny Ooi visited the patients at the Lions Eye Clinic on 10th October and present hampers to them.

| Winners Of The 1st Lions Regional Duet Karaoke Contest - 10 Oct 2009 |

The 1st prize went to Region 6 represented by Lion Kng Boon Wah and Lion Ah See Kim from LC of Jementah. 2nd was Lion Fung Ah Ngan and Lion Tan Yok Kwee from LC of Gua Musang representing Region 1 and 3rd was Lion Kow Kok Choy and Lion Ivy Chee from LC of Triang Mandarin representing Region 2. Apart from their voice, contestants were judged on their costume, duet coordination and stage performances.

| 1st Lioness Clubs Conference - 10 Oct 2009 |

About 40 Lionesses from the Lioness Club of Segamat, Simpang Rengam, Labis and Yong Peng attended the conference. Speakers present were PDG James Pang, DC for Lioness - Tan Gaik Im and DC for Family & Women's Membership Development - Angie Ng. Several POAs and cabinet officers were present.

| Charter of Lions Club of Tropicana Kuala Lumpur - 27 Sept 2009 |

The 97th Club in our District - the Lions Club of Tropicana Kuala Lumpur was chartered on Sunday 27th Sept 2009 at the Tropicana Golf & Country Club. This new club has 26 members and is headed by charter president Lion Steven Lim Bee San with Lion Leong When Chun as the guiding Lion. Sponsor club is the Lions Club of Tangkak. |
In attendance was guest of honor District Governor Datuk Danny Ooi, IPDG Dr Kamalanathan, VDG1 Dato Yeow Wah Chin, VDG2 Dr Ben C. Ng, PDG Raymond Tang, PDG Jason Kon and many other cabinet officers.

| Winners Of 999 Goodwill Golf Tournament |

About 30 golfers participated in the 3rd Lions 999 Goodwill Golf Tournament at the Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Club on 9 Sept 2009. Winner of the tournament was Lion Foo Kooi Siong of the Lions Club of Ampang. ( Click here for more details ) |

| District Governor's 1st Official Duty - Youth Exchange Host Family Briefing |

On Sunday 12th July 2009, District Governor Datuk Danny Ooi attended the briefing with 'host families' of youth exchangee at the Golden Sun Seafood Restauran in Kuala Lumpur. Present were host 29 families for Japanese exchangees who are expected to arrive on 28th July 2009 and will be in Malaysia until 25th August 2009.
Present were host families for Italian, French and Finnish exchangees, Region and Zone Chairperson and Lions members. District Chairperson for Youth Camp & Exchange, Lion Alan Yoong reminded the parents of Youth Camp to be prepared for the foreign youths together with the hosting families' children scheduled from 8-10 August 2009 and the farewell dinner on 23rd August 2009.
Lion Ian Wei from the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur City shared his experience when hosting of an Italian exchangee last year.

| LAUNCH OF LI0NS COMMUNITY SERVICE WEEK & LIONS WITH PDRM EXHIBITION |

In conjunction with the 'Lions Community Service Week' the 'LIONS with PDRM' exhibition was launched by Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Musa Hassan on Friday 17th of July 2009 at the Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur. The 'Lions Community Service Week' was organised by all the clubs in Region 3 & 4. Present were PID Dato Douglas KK Lee, Kuala Lumpur Chief Police Officer, Lion dignitaries as well as Lions from District 308 B2.
